Don Hahn Animation Quote

Well-known Disney producer Don Hahn wrote a delightful book entitled Disney's Animation Magic, published in 1996. Here is a significant quote from that book with, in my humble opinion, ramifications for today:

They [development artists] ...explore the "wow" of the story. That's the extra factor that makes a story just perfect for animation. It's hard to imagine Aladdin's genie, Alice's Wonderland, or a flying elephant named Dumbo appearing in a live-action movie. That's because they're all things that best come to life in animation.

Dumbo Glitches

Even the beloved feature Dumbo has its bloopers. For example:

None of the other storks wear clothes or deliver their babies personally with musical accompaniment; only the one who brings Dumbo.

The clowns are seen as silhouettes on the tent wall, which is correct when viewing them from outside. However, when they pass by the tent opening, they should appear as people, not shadows.

When Timothy watches the silhouette of the Ringmaster getting into bed, the steamer trunk he uses for a nightstand is not visible. More...
