Local Bakery Blunder

A bakery in my area gave themselves an interesting name:

I'm all for clever business names, and I get the joke: it's a variation of 'Nothing but cakes.' However, it can be read as if 'nothing' is a description of your bundt cakes. Nothing Bundt Cakes. Not very complimentary when read that way.

So take note, entrepreneurs, and be sure your clever business name can't be taken two ways.

Bibles for Bulgaria

Last month, the Independent Bible Church of Duryea partnered with The Seedline Project to make and ship Bibles to Bulgaria. While Seedline printed the pages, the entire church worked together to collate, cover, staple, trim, and pack the Bibles for shipment.

It's only the Gospel of John and the Book of Romans, but it's sent free to the missionaries in Bulgaria who give it free to anyone who wants one.

I love giving gifts. And, yes, getting them, too. But it seems only appropriate on this day to contemplate the greatest gift ever given.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

If you have to earn or work for a gift, it's not a gift at all. Redemption is 100% free, because Jesus Christ already paid for it, paid with His life on the Cross.

Any gift can be refused. It's up to you to accept this free gift. If you refuse, it's not God's fault.

Won't you receive the best gift of all this Christmas? Admit to God that you are a sinner, just as His Word says, and that you can't save yourself by works. Turn away from whatever you've trusted before, and place all your faith in Jesus Christ, the Son who died for you. Tell him that you want to receive His free gift today.
