Does Simon Shakey stand around in the field as the scarecrow all day? That doesn't seem like a very good way to search for the formula, or to run a bank.
There's no reason for the scarecrow to duck down behind Freddy and Maude and reappear behind Daphne and Velma. In fact, it gives him away.
